Exams & Preventative Care
We follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. We recommend to establish a dental home by age one, where we would perform a dental examination. We also provide diagnostic and preventive care such as dental radiographs, cleanings, fluoride varnish, and dental sealants. We recommend our patients see us every 6 months to make sure their oral health is on the right track. We will do our best to develop trust with your child by keeping them safe, calm, and always providing the best care possible.
Restorative Treatments
We always promote prevention of cavities, but sometimes cavities still occur for children.
Restorative care is a service aimed at repairing damaged or missing teeth. If your child has a broken, chipped, decayed, damaged, or missing tooth, we may recommend a treatment to fix their dental needs.
This may include: fillings, crowns, pulp therapy, and extractions. Our goal is to prevent pain and infection while giving your child the best, most functional smile possible.
Orthodontic Referrals
We will examine and monitor your child’s growth and development at each visit.
Some children will be candidates for space maintainers, which our dentists can provide. Some patients will benefit from orthodontic consultation and treatment.
In these scenarios, we will make timely referrals and establish great continuity of care between our office and the orthodontic office in order to achieve the best results possible.
Sedation Dentistry
For children that are very young, nervous, fearful, or unable to tolerate traditional dental treatment due to special health care needs, we are able to provide different levels of sedation to achieve safe and effective dental treatment. All of our protocols follow the practice guidelines for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
We offer several sedation options including: Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas), oral conscious sedation, IM moderate sedation, and general anesthesia. Our team works with Nebraska Dental Anesthesia and their Board Certified Dental Anesthesiologists to provide in office procedures to perform effective dental treatment while your child is safely sedated and asleep. We also provide dental care in Outpatient Hospital and Surgical Settings. You can be assured that the team of doctors providing sedation and anesthesia to your child are qualified and specialize in pediatric dental surgery and anesthesiology to provide safe and quality treatment.
Lip and Tongue Tie Releases
Our Board Certified Pediatric Dentists, Drs. Howenstein and Reeves, perform frenectomy procedures to release tongue and lip ties when treatment is indicated.
Sometimes, children are born with a tight band of tissue on the upper lip and/or tongue. When this tissue is excessively tight, it can interfere with significant oral functions.
In collaboration with local specialists, the doctors here are able to release these tissues when indicated to provide relief as well as promote proper oral growth and development.
